FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MACSA celebrates 45 years of service to the community with the ¡Que Viva MACSA! Fundraiser event

San Jose, Calif. – February 3, 2009

The Mexican American Community Services Agency, Inc. (MACSA) is proud to announce an evening of recognition and festivities with the ¡Que Viva MACSA! Fundraiser on Saturday, June 27th at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. This year's event will be especially memorable as MACSA celebrates its 45th anniversary, and honors the Most Influential Latinos of Silicon Valley and Silicon Valley Latino Hall of Fame inductees. The Taste of Las Americas Dinner and Celebracion will kick-off the post awards festivities immediately following the awards ceremony, where guests will indulge in creative cuisine, spicy entertainment, and dancing under the stars.

In the third year of MACSA recognizing its community leaders, this year's event will depart from the previous Red Carpet Gala celebration.

"This decision is based on our fundamental values and mission that MACSA is an organization that addresses critical community needs," stated Olivia Soza-Mendiola, MACSA's Chief Executive Officer. "It did not resonate well with me to have an elegant celebration, when the community we serve is struggling to keep their homes and struggling with basic needs."

The focus of the celebration will be on recognizing MACSA's life long partners and highlighting the many milestones and accomplishments of MACSA.

"It is with great pride that I look back and reminisce on all of the lives that we have provided our services to: from our participants who are as young as zero, to our high school students, our families, and our elders," beams Soza-Mendiola. "Our work cannot be done without the tremendous support and trust of our funders and without the expansive non-profit partnerships in the valley. No one organization can meet the needs of this valley's most vulnerable."

MACSA will recognize 10 individuals in each of the Most Influential Latinos of Silicon Valley categories: Civic Leadership/Service, Latino Owned Businesses, Nurses, Radio, and Teachers. Nominations for the Most Influential Latinos of Silicon Valley are open to the public and due by Friday, February 27, 2009.

The event is sponsored in part by Filice Insurance, FIRST 5 Santa Clara County, Kaiser Permanente, Nordstrom, The Health Trust, and Union Bank.
